The goal is to braze steel to wolfram carbide in 5 seconds using flux and braze alloy

Equipment
Ultra heat SB Series 3kW, 1MHz

Materials

  • steel tool tail and wolfram carbide receiver
  • Silver soldering paste (PN:R0113)
  • Flux

Key Parameters
Temperature: Approximately 780°C

Frequency
800 kHz

Process:
1. Mounting tool tail into the carbide work piece hole.
2. Placing brazing paste around the tool tail close to carbide piece.
3. Placing additional flux over the brazing paste.
4. Placing the set into inductor.
5. Alloy flow and joint completed in 5 seconds.
6. The material was cooled in water following the completion of brazing.
7. The joint was then cross-sectioned to validate that the brazing process had produced a strong, high quality joint.
